Place Vendôme

It is difficult to agree on which is the most beautiful square in Paris. Place Vendôme is without a doubt one of the most elegant ones. The houses around the square were designed by Mansart at the beginning of the 18th century. The atmosphere is defined by jewelers with great reputations and by the fabulous Hotel Ritz. The square is being dominated by a pillar on which Napoleon looks out over the square in a Roman garment. The composer Chopin died at number 9.
